Ground staff of the Spanish airline Iberia are to benefit from an updated TETRA digital radio system for communications at their main base, Madrid’s Barajas airport. A new network based on Motorola’s Dimetra IP Compact infrastructure is being be installed by local partner Amper Sistemas. Growing demand Replacing a previous Motorola TETRA installation at the airport, the Dimetra IP Compact system will be able to re-use more than 1000 radios and six base stations, because the old and new TETRA systems are compatible. Motorola Solutions explains that its improved IP-based TETRA solution provides a highly flexible and scalable architecture that supports voice and data services as well as mobile applications, including remote access to databases and image transmission.
