In collaboration with a partner company in the Canary Islands, Técnicas Competitivas, Teltronic recently provided an additional batch of digital radios for use on the islands’ government-run TETRA network. The RESCAN network, supplied last year by a consortium which included the two companies, is designed to be shared by a large number of public service organizations, including autonomous, island and municipal bodies. It provides communications coverage on all seven islands of the archipelago. The additional TETRA units, including some 120 fixed and mobile terminals and close to 500 hand-portable terminals, are being supplied to the Canary Islands Government, which will distribute them across the region, and to the San Cristóbal de la Laguna city council. Capable of supporting more than 7000 terminals and 500 communications groups, the RESCAN system is made up of two central nodes, over 70 base stations, a control centre and a network management system.
