As part of the roll-out of Germany’s TETRA-based national public safety network in the state of Hessen, Motorola Solutions has submitted the winning tender to supply TETRA digital radios to the security authorities and organizations (Behörden und Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben, BOS). Some 53?000 digital two-way radios plus accessories and supporting services will meet the needs of the police, emergency services, aid agencies as well as public and private fire departments in Hessen. The order includes handheld and vehicle radios as well as portable ATEX radios for use in hazardous environments. The radio are versions developed especially by Motorola Solutions in accordance with the requirements of the German authorities and organizations. They support end-to-end encryption in accordance with the requirements of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for tap-proof communication. This order for Motorola Solutions is the latest in a series of TETRA tender wins in German federal states, including Lower Saxony, Berlin, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and Thuringia, and the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Motorola will also supply its integrated Terminal Management (iTM) product, which system makes it possible to manage the software and configurations of all the radio terminals efficiently from a central location using a remote function.
