Hytera Mobilfunk has expanded the Macedonian TETRA network, which is used by the security authorities for public safety. The network expansion comprised 26 TETRA DIB-500 R4.1 base stations, a completely IP-based TETRA exchange IP Node as well as workstation computers to administrate the radio system. In addition, the existing control centres will be modernized and provided with new features (GIS/AVL). The system went live at the start of February and extends the original network, which consisted of 42 base stations, redundant exchange nodes and network management features as well as control centre technology from Nokia Siemens Networks. Apart from delivering the TETRA infrastructure, Hytera Mobilfunk was also responsible for rendering the entire location fit for expansion. The project was delivered two months ahead of schedule.
