Radiocom Danmark delivered the first TETRA pager in Denmark to the fire brigade at the island Bornholm.
The fire brigade experienced the TETRA pager for the first time during a Danish exhibition for fire brigades in Fredericia in August 2012. But at that time, the pager was not certified, and therefore, they continued with the existing solution. The pager became SINE-certified in February, and the fire brigade at Bornholm then invested in the pagers. Call-out to the pager is encrypted, so unauthorized persons will not be able to access the information that is sent to the pager. The brigade will test the pagers at Bornholm, where there often can be areas without much connection. The fire brigade looks forward to minimizing communications and thereby saving some time. In the long term, the firefighters hope to save money on operating costs by owning their own network. Today the brigade uses cell phones often to pass messages, but there is not always coverage.
