Nanjing municipal government in China is building a TETRA network in time for the Asian Youth Games in 2013 and the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014, both of which will be held in the city. As the capital of Jiangsu province, Nanjing is one of the biggest and most important cities in China, situated in one of the country’s largest economic zones. The new TETRA network will be equipped with Cassidian’s TETRA IP technologies and equipment including: one DXT3 switch, 25 TB3 base stations, 900 THR880i terminals and a dispatcher workstation system in the first phase. The final set-up will cover an area of about 6600 km2 in the city of Nanjing, thereby improving its security and management of more than eight million people. Olivier Koczan, head of sales of secure communication solutions at Cassidian, commented: “We are proud of this contract. It demonstrates the confidence of our customers in Cassidian’s capability in providing secure and reliable systems. We are committed to applying our technical know-how in digital trunked networks for the benefit of the new TETRA system in Nanjing.” Cassidian has signed a contract with system integrator CETC-7 (China Electronic Science and Technology Group Corporation No.7 Research Institute) to build the network.
