As the Olympic Torch arrived in the UK, beginning the final countdown to start of the 2012 Olympic Games, the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) launched a further set of online Olympic training packages to police forces across the UK. The latest e-learning packages are made up of three separate modules aimed at those directly supporting the games. Among them is a module devoted to Airwave radio in London, to familiarize officers with the Olympic event radio. This is designed for all ‘mutual aid’ officers deployed to the Metropolitan Police for general policing duties and those working in search teams, as well as dog handlers and mounted officers. Another module provides basic training for users of the Olympic national security mapping portal, which provides police access to a wide range of maps and locations. Nick Gargan, chief constable and chief executive of the NPIA, said: “Our Olympic awareness training recognizes that the games are going to be a massive national policing operation involving forces from every part of the country. “The e-learning packages will help ensure the games are policed effectively yet unobtrusively so that the sporting and cultural celebrations are not overshadowed by the security operation.” Access to the online training is via the national Police Managed Learning Environment. Completion is automatically recorded so forces can monitor and track completion of the learning by their staff. (中国集群通信网 | 责任编辑:陈晓亮) |
