During the press conference held on September 6 by the organization committee of the 10th National Sport Convention of China, the committee announced that China Satcom had been designated as the exclusive sponsor of wireless communications system. The wireless communications system adopted by China Satcom is the GoTadigital trunk communications system of ZTE, the biggest listed Internet network equipment and wireless communications system maker in China. With the helps of China Satcom, now ZTE has come the first Chinese domestic brand to provide equipment for the national sport pageant. GoTa system is a CDMA-based new generation digital trunk communications system that is developed independently by ZTE. To server the national athletic meeting, it signals that ZTE''s GoTa system has the ability to take the place of foreign brands in this sector. ZTE has been in good favor with China Satcom. The two partners have been working hands in glove for a long time. They started to test GoTa system since early 2003. On top of that, GoTa system has been widely used in Russia, Norway, Malaysia, and Brail. Insiders predict that 2005 will witness the large-scale construction of digital trunk systems in China possibly. Following the mobile communication system''s shift from analog to digital several years ago, the Chinese trunk communications will undergo the same evolvement process. MII once predicted that the number of the domestic special network users would reach 30 million in 2005, and the potential production value of digital trunk communication CNY 50 billion. To adapt to the fast growing application demand at home, Chinese telecom management bodies brought digital trunk into basic telecom businesses, and organized as well as worked out new technical solutions. These moves created excellent climate for the development of the Chinese digital trunk communications. At the 2005 China digital trunk and urgent communications development forum held recently, telecom regulators revealed that they had formulated a series of policies concerning telecom business classification, frequency planning, digital trunk business development planning, and modified, released, and renewed some technical and service standards, creating a good policy climate for the development of digital trunk in China. Meanwhile, more and more group users showed their strong interests to digital trunk business, providing a huge market room for the business. Facing the bright prospect, not only overseas manufacturers make efforts to expand the market with their TETRA, iDEN systems, but also Chinese manufacturers enhance their R&D, production capabilities in digital trunk system. So far, some domestic communication equipment makers have launched their independently developed digital trunk systems, such as ZTE''s GoTa Huawei''s GT800. At the key point for the start of the market, the debut of domestic made digital trunk communications system will greatly reduce the cost of constructions at home. In November 2004, MII designated Huawei''s GT800 and ZTE''s GoTa as the digital trunk standards for reference. In addition, four bills concerning Huawei''s GT800 were passed at the twenty-four session of 3GPP GERAN held the capital of Ireland in May this year. The bills involved the establishment of GT800 frequency standard, core standard, base station testing standard, and terminal testing standard. The passage of this bills indicated that GT800 had become the first Chinese digital trunk standard recognized by international organizations. GT800 and GoTa will compete with TETRA and iDEN directly, says Huo Gang, a director at MII. (USD 1 = CNY 8.11) (中国集群通信网 | 责任编辑:陈晓亮) |
